Matt, Cara and I have been putting together a proper Mac installer for AQ. When I discovered that the shareware version could no longer be downloaded by AQ, I decided to bundle it in to my installer. Similarly, Cara has set things up so that we have the popular mods bundled, also.
Is there a problem with this? Should we not bundle the shareware material with AQ for some legal reason? Further to my last message, I've manage to restore most of the files. Here are the buts (there is both good and bad news)... 0. All AGRIP-made releases are back. 1. The shareware release, however, is no longer available in the place I got it from and I am not sure what the steps are to prepare it (basically it was a special version of the shareware data that our installer was written to work with, but it was provided by QuakeForge who no longer seems to have it on their site. Does anyone have a copy of quake-shareware-1.06.zip (or a file of the same name ending in .tar.gz)? 2. The installers are, alas, hard-coded to look for Mindgird audio and the shareware file at a particular address, which is now the wrong one. First thing that needs fixing in the next release (which the community will have to build as I no longer can) will have to be putting in a file that points to the current download location -- or perhaps fetching it from agrip.org.uk. 3. Some good news: I found a newer Mac build that is universal and put it on the downloads page. 4. For those that may want to build a Windows installer I have got the SAPI "merge modules" that I prepared ages ago. SAPI's now bundled with Windows, though so these may no longer be needed. If they are, you know where to come now :-). So, in summary, if anyone can help me with the shareware version that would be appreciated, but the rest is all there. I have also started preparing a new home page that simply links to Launchpad and a potential community-run AQ home page. I suggest that we nominate someone to maintain a home page that links to all the other stuff. I thought we could call it the AudioQuake and Level Description Language home page or something like that. I would like to keep the AGRIP domain for the moment, because all of my email and other sites are attached to it. That was possibly an oversight, so apologies, but I won't be able to sort it all out for a few months due to work :-S. In the meantime I'm happy to make our home page link to one of yours. I might be able to provide hosting space if need be but would be slow on tech-support again due to work, so if you can find an alternative it might be for the best. best regards, -- Matthew Tylee Atkinson http://mta.agrip.org.uk/ _______________________________________________ AGRIP-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.agrip.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/agrip-discuss _______________________________________________ AGRIP-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.agrip.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/agrip-discuss
