Hi there: Just in case nobody's responded to you just curious how much
you already know. The
reason I ask is I don't know how much of the available documentation
you've gone through, and
although some of it needs work due to change4es since it's writing,
most of it is still useful.
That said, reguardless of which operating system you're using, you'll
need the Audio Quake
installer, an installation of perl for the speech interface and the
game launcher, and either the
shareware or registered game data.
The installer used to be able to download and install everything
automatically, but due to
changes and in some cases disapearances of the u.r.l.s containing such
things as the latest
active state perl for windows, and the shareware demo and such, those
now must be obtained
manually. The installer will install the game engine for single and
multiplayer modes, license
info, readme's and Audio Quake related documentation.
Most of what you need can be found at the agrip site,
http://www.agrip.org.uk
and you can be pointed to the places to get the needed version of perl.
Hope it helps a bit, feel free to write back though... There's a lot
of info there, and things
are still under development but the game is playable, it's strong suit
being online and off-line
multiplayer modes.
It is said that Quake is a game that's easy to play, difficult to
master but worth the effort.
therefore, don't give up if it seems daunting at first, I've been
playing it now since I
discovered it in 2006, and I'm certainly not the best player out there,
but I have lots of fun
Take care...
