Hello hardcore AudioQuake community ;-),

I'm Matthew; I am one of the two initial developers on AudioQuake, the other
being Sebby. I'm writing this email to you but it's from both of us. For
the past six years I've been recovering from a major road accident and also
working as a researcher and research student; I have had regretfully little
time to support the AQ community, though you have all done a very good job
of supporting the community yourselves! My studies are finally over now and
my recovery is progressing well, so I wanted to write to ask what I can do
to open up the community a bit more, if this is wanted or required, so that
I can give up control over the mailing lists (and perhaps more), as we did
for the code itself several years ago.

This list doesn't seem too active anymore and I am hoping to decommission my
mail server, so we will need to find an alternative place to host it if need
be. First of all: is there an alternative place for discussing AQ that
people are using? Do you even want this mailing list to continue at all?
If you would like it to continue, we could host it an Launchpad along with
the code, or we could perhaps put it on Google Groups -- or something else
I've not heard/thought of. Which would you prefer?

I am now looking for a job and continuing my recovery. I will do my best to
respond to emails though and aim to do so within a week now, rather than
months it may have previously taken due to my arduous recovery from the
accident.

Once again I have to say that Sebby and I have been consistently blown away
by, and are forever grateful for, the reaction to AQ from the community.
I'm very sorry that things went the way they did and we could not be
involved further; I would have loved to be. Maybe as time goes on, the
opportunity to create the next AQ will present itself. I would really love
to work more on the Level Description Language so you can continue creating
your own maps, but currently life is taking me in other directions. We will
do our best to support the community -- or what's left of it -- if you'd
like to continue discussing and using AQ, though!

All the best,

Matthew and Sebby
