Jana'iz - 17th Dhul-Hijja 1424 (9 February 2004) Narrated by Aisha (Radhiallaho anha): A man said to the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam), "My mother died suddenly and I thought that if she had lived she would have given alms. So, if I give alms now on her behalf, will she get the reward?" The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) replied in the affirmative.
