Obligation of Khumus - 29th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1428 (18 April 2007)
Narrated Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "My
heirs should not take even a single Dinar (i.e. anything from
my property), and whatever I leave, excluding the expenditure
of my wives and my laborers, will be Sadaqa (i.e. be used for
charity)."'

Khumus
One fifth of the war booty to be given to Allah's
Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) to distribute
according to Allah's Orders as stated in the Holy Quran
