Job offer in Geostatistics

A position as a scientific assistant (½ BAT IIa) will be available at the Institute for Geoinformatics, Westfaelische Wilhelms-University of Muenster. There is an option to increase the salary to ¾ BAT IIa. Initially the duration of the position is from the 01.09.2003 to 29.02.2004, with the possibility of an extension.

The tasks consist of collaboration in the projects of the working group of Geostatistics of the Institute for Geoinformatics.

The candidate should have a Master degree in one of the following fields: statistics, informatics, mathematics, earth science with emphasis on geostatistics. A strong background of applied or mathematical statistics and basic programming abilities are required. The ideal candidate has interests in problems of earth science. The specific tasks of the scientific assistant include

° development and implementation of geostatistical procedures for interpolation and spatial analysis of space-oriented data

° acquisition of projects and individual accomplishment of projects in the domain of  geostatistics

The candidate will work in an interdisciplinary group with great experience in applied
geostatistics.
