Blueprint changed by rejon:

Whiteboard changed:
Here is a sketch, mockup coming soon:
  http://fabricatorz.com/wiki/File:IMG_20100824_154535-aiki-admin.jpg

      * Update top menu with items for system level operation:
o left aligned, when active selection, make it bold:
+ Bigger Aiki badge (like the ones we putting on websites)
                  + System
                  + Structure
+ Events (should ideally be in that next panel and not as a
floating palette. NO floating palettes)
                  + History (RecentChanges)
                  + Help (go to aikiframework.org/help
o right aligned: username @ current_site_domain (as dropdown if
multiple sites, changing, changes sites) | logout
+ all users now have a default profile that only admins can
access. default profiles include:
                        # History of users changes and basic username.
                        # URL should be SITENAME/admin/USERNAME or
SITENAME/profile/USERNAME with access controls
      * 2nd bar is the message bar. Ideally it is pulled up, or only for
messages like "Saved". I don't think the top system bar should show messages.
Rather, we should have messages like saved, and other changes show up in the
list of things happening, esp. when multiple hacking on a system. This is very
crucial. Remove the aiki logo from this.
      * structure column
o make the right-click functional with operations
o make the items draggable work
      * widget column (eventually this will be splittable so can have multiple
widget views. one should be able to send widget to the different panels for
editing
o top of the widget editor has multiple tabs/modes for viewing
widget: basic (url + html + css only), content, sql, style, permissions,
advanced, all
o bottom has widget action bar with:
+ Action (clone, hide, show and other widget functions in a
dropdown), options can go to right or popup for more details
                  + right aligned:
                        # History (recent changes)
                        # Preview
                        # Save

  Here's how to do:

0.) Document how to edit the admin panel.
http://aikiframework.org/wiki/Developing_Admin_Interface (DONE)
1.) make mockups screens of different views really quickly
2.) make the mockups real on UI with jquery and maybe jqueryUI
3.) connect up with the code!

Barry had a great interface example.

I was thinking about something like this

Take a look at Cloud9 IDE (you can edit your projects from github)
