Hi for a project fabricatorz is working on, we found out that Varnish doesn't cache HTTPS traffic, so we needed to turn on the updated Image.php extension to cache by default. Now this is the case, images are cached into the default uploads folder. Also, a refresh can be forced which could be useful because this could be run over an entire collection.
As for the Thru.php, if one has now setup Apache's X-sendfile, this is used to force download of a file from 20-40% faster than default forced download.
