As I have indicated various times on the mailing-list and in-person, and as had been agreed to in the past: you shouldn't release a mega- collection of widly differing elements: different authors and origins, different licensing, different scope and usage scenarios. A mega zip file with hundred of Mb or Gigs of fonts that you will never use together and that people will have to sift throught manually is a very bad idea.
Resisting to do this helps educate against a font-collection syndrom and will make a statement that this service is different from the font freeware hosting services. Instead it will encourage to learn to pick the most appropriate font instead of downloading as many as you can in one go together. openclipart is NOT the open font library. Different works, different usage and scope, different licenses, different community. Leave packaging (and the corresponding packaging review) to the packaging teams of the various distributions. In any case packaging policies of the major distributions strongly reject mega-tarballs with tons of differing components inside and ask for the appropriate splits. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Open Font Library Developers, which is subscribed to Open Font Library. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/718769 Title: there isn't a complete download or packages of the collection Status in Open Font Library: Incomplete Bug description: need to make something like we have on openclipart rather than making by-hand packages. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~aikiframework.admins Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~aikiframework.admins More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
