As I have indicated many times, we should start from scratch with seeding of well-know open fonts following our policy as references and proper moderation steps in place.
Refusing to clean up the existing big pile of fonts in which gems are mixed up with stuff from dubious origins, licensing problems and sometimes unsufficient quality simply results in making this site one to avoid. Compare that to the QA measures in place for the other font hosting sites. We can and should do better. Making a clean break and a fresh start by contacting authors about the policy is the best thing to do I think. This service needs to distinguish itself from the gazillion font hosting sites out there. It's not like there are thousands of authors at this stage and it's better if they are notified of the changes, the new features and the policy. They can do the filling in of their own metadata in the new system. Accepting everything that barely resemble a font is not a moderation policy. Post-moderation only without a clearly defined policy is impossible as these past few years have shown. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Open Font Library Developers, which is subscribed to Open Font Library. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/718507 Title: not all fonts have been imported from past iterations of the site Status in Open Font Library: Triaged Bug description: where are all the fonts at from past versions of the site. we have: * previous OFLB based upon ccHost * current ccHost version * any other version?
