I suggest looking instead at the registry API and also the sample AiravataClient (airavata//modules/airavata-client/src/main/java/org/apache/airavata/client/airavata/AiravataClient.java). The goal is to keep the API the same and the objects stored in the registry the same but replace the storage mechanism. It would also be useful to evaluate different NoSQL solutions for our cases.
So I recommend thinking through the code and then filing a set of Jira tasks. You can link them to the GSOC Jira task using "is part of".
