Position:Application Environment and Release Engineer
Location:Denver, CO
Duration:6 Months.


Job Description:

The Application Environment and Release Engineer will be responsible for
coordinating and executing engineering, operational, and technical tasks and
duties specific to application environment support and release engineering
of critical consumer web products in accordance with established processes.
This individual will perform builds and deployments to tightly-controlled
test, stage, and production environments. The Application Environment and
Release Engineer will coordinate with development and QA teams for the
release management and environment availability, and with Software
Configuration Management teams to manage the application build and
deployment processes as well as source-control procedures. In addition, the
person in this role will implement automated procedures for deployment,
configuration, startup, and shutdown procedures of application servers.
Performs operational application environment engineering tasks including,
web and application server configuration changes and application builds and
deployments. Works with development, infrastructure, and database
administration teams to troubleshoot potential environment issues. Works
with IT management to establish and refine repeatable, structured processes
and procedures for creating and managing application environments; including
application and web server configurations, build and deploy processes,
release management, and change control procedures as necessary. Documents
and updates repeatable, structured processes and procedures for creating and
managing application environments. Coordinates the timing and procedural
aspects of all activities with development, QA, and SCM teams. Responsible
for building J2EE applications (EAR and WAR) and scripts (shell and ANT
scripts). Responsible for building MOSS environments and building and
deploying custom Sharepoint Applications.


Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field;
minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Proven experience in environments consisting of Apache 2.0, JBOSS, MOSS,
ASP.net, IIS and Linux and Windows.
Experience in a high-volume, high-availability production environment a
must.
Solid understanding of industry standard availability and security practices
required.
Solid understanding of HTTP(S), IIS, DNS, SMTP, JMS, SNMP, JDBC, ODBC.
Knowledge of clearcase, svn, visual studio, eclipse, ant, msbuild and
powershell a plus.
Knowledge of movie, television, or cable industry, a plus.
