Job Title: UI Designer
Location: NYC
Duration: 6+ month

*Description:*
The User Interface Designer will provide guidance around best practices and
subject matter expertise in both traditional web design, as well as desktop
application development.  Candidates with exposure to Microsoft
technologies, such as WPF, would be strongly preferred.
A bespoke CRM system is being extended with some new major functionality, so
it will be important as part of the design process, to consider the design
of the existing UI to ensure the new implementation fits into the current
infrastructure as seamlessly as possible.  Additionally, some new
functionality within the enterprise space of this application is slated to
be migrated to the upcoming web platform.
Working with an established team of developers, after the initial design,
the designer will continue to help, guide and advise the developers to
implement the most efficient interface in an agile fashion.  A knowledge and
demonstrable understanding of different UI design across different platforms
would be preferable and advantageous.
Development will be coordinated between our London and New York offices,
with multiple facets of the application in development simultaneously.
Experience in an Agile environment is preferred.  Strong communication
skills and the ability to work independently are required.
The successful candidate will work with members of the development team,
testing team, database team, and business analysts on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities
Delivery of completed work in a timely and with high quality.
Creation of documentation, wireframes, and prototypes of the design.
Working with a team of developers, locally and remotely, to implement the
programmatic aspects of the application into the interface.
Advise and provide guidance on UI design and implementation throughout the
development process.
Participation in daily stand-up meetings and sprint-oriented planning and
retrospective meetings.
Participation in “brown bag” sessions covering relevant technologies as they
are applied or could be applied.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
More than four years as a front-end designer, preferably working between
desktop and web-based application.
Applied knowledge of appropriate design tools, including: graphic editors,
HTML editors, and Microsoft Office Products.
Professional demeanor with the ability to effectively communicate with both
technical and non-technical resources.
A background in hands-on development would be advantageous.

*Desirable Skills*
Exposure to WPF or XAML a strong plus.
Knowledge of Microsoft-based designed and development tools.
