This is for my direct client opening for *Network Engineer - Laurel, MD*.
This is a *12 Months contract position*. The Hourly rate is *DOE*.
*Job Description:*
Details of the project:
-The Senior Data Network Engineer is responsible for the architecture and
implementation of the network communications.
-Utilizing their extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN systems.
-The individual in this position will take on responsibilities in the areas
of administration, engineering, architecture and project management.
-Will be managing and assisting in the day-to-day monitoring of the network
infrastructure, provide troubleshooting and support to ensure accurate and
up to date technical documentation.
-Individual will also define, design, and implement internal and external
network solutions and manage technical projects assigned to them.
-The individual will be responsible for the tasks related to complex network
solutions in data and voice convergence, B2B network connectivity, microwave
network systems and maintenance, and remote access.
-Additionally working with the IT Security, the individual will architect
and implement required network security infrastructure.
-The individual will stay abreast of knowledge in the industry trends and
best practices in order to develop and support modern network architecture
with a focus on speed, function, security and cost savings.
-The individual in this role relies heavily on their experience and
independent judgment to develop solutions for difficult troubleshooting,
repair and maintenance problems where complete documentation may not be
available.
-The Contractor will approach assignments with considerable creativity and
innovation. As a senior It professional, the individual will contribute to
achieving the IT department Work Plan and actively supports development and
execution of Commission-wide Annual Actions items.
Required Skills:
-Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or other
related technical disciplines or 5 additional years of relevant IT
professional experience.
-A minimum of 5 years of experience in data communications administrations
and enterprise network operations with demonstrated experience in meeting
business user's requirements and SLAs.
-Hands-on experience with routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, & BGP),
compression algorithms, sever/application load-balancing, CheckPoint
Firewall, HSRP, Cisco IOS, packet prioritization or Quality of
Service (QoS) and performance tuning.
- Experience in system monitoring technologies (i.e. SNMP, HP OpenView,
etc.)
- Implementing ITIL methodologies to proactively monitor infrastructure
environments.
- Active industry network certification such as CCNA and/or CCIe.
The individual must satisfy all or substantially all of the following:
- Experience with designing and implementing network redundancy and load
balancing systems necessary to support alternate Disaster Recovery data
facility.
-Experience with emerging voice and data convergence technologies.
-Hands-on familiarity with HP OpenView and SNMP is a PLUS.
-Direct experience with network protocol analysis, Citrix Netscaler load
balancers, and HP Network Node Manager is a plus.
