Job Description:
Q Analysts is looking for a Cognos Enterprise Planning Expert for one of its
clients located in Pleasanton, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Installation and Configuration
a.. Based on the business requirements, recommend a scalable architecture
b.. Perform initial product installs
c.. Configure different software components for EP (Cognos 8.xx) and BI (
Cognos 8.xx)
d.. Implement LDAP / Access Manager Security solution
e.. Document the implementation steps
f.. Recommend development, test and production environments and migration
procedures.
Application Migrations
a.. Design and develop application migration strategy
b.. Execute dry runs and test migration
c.. Prepare for production migration
d.. Execute migration procedures and steps
e.. Final implementation
Production Support (for both Cognos EP and BI)
a.. Manage contributor applications
b.. Develop, implement and monitor routine processes such as GTP, admin
links, contributor macros etc
c.. Monitor daily data load procedures
d.. Configure and Implement publish containers
e.. Manage security ( access tables, user rights ), e-List, jobs etc
f.. Develop and maintain batch scripts to automate daily maintenance tasks
Skills/Attributes Required/sought:
a.. 4+ years direct experience with Contributor and BI products
b.. Cognos certification preferred
c.. EP migration knowledge
d.. Cognos EP application best practices knowledge
e.. Excellent communication skills
f.. Performance tuning and troubleshooting experience
g.. Familiarity with latest product features
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
a.. Bachelor's degree
b.. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
c.. Able to transform a set of business needs into a well formed project
plan.
d.. Develop creative yet workable solutions to difficult, complex problems.
e.. Ability to work independently.
Please note that this is not a developer position, but Server Administrator
type role. They must have strong architecture knowledge, good communication and
problem solving skills to work with the business.
