Job Description & Required skills:
The Administrator, Database will serve on the DBA team, supporting SQL Server
and optionally MySQL databases providing senior level expertise to the team.
This position will provide database design, support, and back-up recovery
activities.
1. Manages physical database design, creation and maintenance.
2. Performs performance tuning, capacity planning, and back-up/recovery
activities.
3. Leads the research, planning and implementation of new database
installations, upgrades and patches for various systems.
4. Controls system capacity for existing requirements and plans for future
needs.
5. Facilitates root cause analysis on database issues.
6. Maintains technical documentation relating to database management.
7. Responsible for 7x24 production support on a rotation basis.
8. Has basic project management experience. Is able to manage a technical
project with the involvement of other technical resources.
9. Demonstrates a commitment to company core values of safety, integrity,
process improvement, and customer satisfaction.
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related
engineering discipline or equivalent experience required.
2. Work experience:
a. Should have a total of at least 7 years of work experience.
b. At least 5 years of SQL Server experience in a large corporate
environment.
c. At least 2 years HANDS-ON experience in SOL Server 2005
3. Microsoft SOL Server clustering experience
4. SQL Server Replication experience
5. VLDB > 1 TB experience
6. Performance tuning and Query optimization experience
7. OLTP experience with high transaction rates
8. Extensive TSQL scripting experience with good knowledge of DTS and SSIS
9. Working knowledge of Windows OS configuration and management as to how it
relates to Microsoft SQL Server
10. Advanced knowledge of database concepts, performance tuning, proactive
monitoring and problem solving
11. Experience with database management, monitoring and tuning tools.
12. Good oral and written communication skills to interact with both,
internal and external customers
13. Must be a high energy team player with a positive working attitude
* Database mirroring experience
* Table and Index partitioning experience
* Experience working in a retail environment
* Database architecture and design experience
* Reporting Services experience
* SOL Server consolidation experience
* Experience with MySOL a definite plus.
* Experience with .Net and other related Microsoft tools
