Please Reply to [email protected] Position : Systems Engineer Location : NYC, NY Duration : 6 Months JOB DESCRIPTION - Role and Responsibilities Providing technical expertise within a Tier 2 team focused on the implementation, service delivery and support of products, systems & networks in Reuters Research. Driving down incident rates and working with 1st line Operations to improve service recovery times. To ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered as part of the implementation process whilst ensuring that existing service levels are maintained or improved. To contribute to and ensure full compliance to operational standards, procedures and best practice. It involves close liaison with various operational, project, development and product teams as well working within the Service Organization to ensure ongoing service and support can be maintained to agreed service levels. - Schedule and implement production changes such as new applications, software upgrades, roll out of security and system patches, bug fixes, etc. - Participate in implementation of new products and capabilities, review and contribute to PIA, design documents. - Create and maintain RunBooks and Work Instructions. - Provide a second level support; lead service incident and problem resolution efforts to support entrusted applications/products. - Work closely; provide timely updates and documentation to Tier 1 support team. - Collaborate with development teams on systems design enhancements and systems serviceability. - Assure compatibility of components and operating characteristics of subsystems or multi-product environment to ensure effective operation. - Be aware and ensure compliance with Company design, testing and documentation standards and practices which are applicable to the project/product and are current within the department. JOB SPECIFICATIONS- Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience - Minimum Years of 5 years of Information Technology implementation or support experience (ideal candidate would have their past experience in the support of production environments around company services and not support of desktop or exchanges/users). - MUST have their experience be in production support (medium to large) within MS products - web based (web servers/web support/middle tier/back-end support. A bachelors degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering etc.) preferred or equivalent professional experience. Prefer candidates with a - development background (person may have gotten bored with codes). Primary technical skills - Advanced knowledge of Windows Platform and Microsoft Back Office OR Advanced knowledge and hands on in storage technologies (SAN,NAS) - Practical knowledge of communications protocols and networking technology - Basic knowledge of scripting technologies. Secondary technical skills - Load Balancing. - Knowledge of Security and associated technologies. - Knowledge of Management systems. - Knowledge of hardware platforms.
