Scheduled weekend work will also be required from time-to-time to meet business needs. On-call rotation required. General Description · Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills at the System Engineer level. · Sufficient technical depth to communicate with business and other internal IS Groups at a peer level. · Possess the ability to work independently with minimal management supervision and as part of nationwide team of engineers. · Be confident and actively participating in team support by proposing and implementing solutions. · Ability and confidence in creating roadmaps, making system recommendations and providing excellent customer support. · Written and oral communication skills are required. · Ability to create clear and concise documentation. work experience requirements · Knowledge of SCOM is obviously preferred. Any prior systems management experience is valuable, but I would not place too much value on prior MOM 2005 experience. The versions are so significantly different that skills do not necessarily translate. Of course, if this new person were to be involved in the migration efforts, MOM knowledge may help. · Knowledge of Windows Server – both for configuring/maintaining the SCOM infrastructure and understanding monitoring of target Windows servers · Knowledge of SQL Server – same … needed to configure and maintain SCOM databases, along with monitoring SQL databases. SQL Reporting Services is also a plus, as that is the underlying component for building SCOM reports. · Knowledge of the target apps/platforms you plan to monitor, such as Exchange, AD, IIS, SharePoint, UNIX and Linux, etc. You certainly can manage SCOM without necessarily knowing these, but the better admins I work with have that broad working knowledge. · Scripting knowledge is a big plus … the ability to write VB, PowerShell, etc. comes in very handy to extend and automate the product. Also, SCOM is an object oriented system, using classes and instances, and those with some programming knowledge tend to grasp this quicker · ITIL/MOF background is helpful. The tool really is designed to support the IT Service Management concept, and those that approach SCOM as a tool to help monitor and measure the services they provide (rather than a tool that monitors computers) see more of the value of the tool. *Best Regards* * * * * ** *Satya Dowluri * *Sure IT Solutions Inc.* *1801 W Queen Creek RD, Suite # 3, Chandler, AZ 85248* *Tel: (602)-490-0074 Fax: (866) 322-0121* Email: [email protected] | [email protected] LinkedIn : http://www.linkedin.com/pub/satya-dowluri-lion/7/848/5a gTalk: [email protected] | YIM: satya.sureit <[email protected]> URL : http://www.sureitinc.com * * *We offer genuine opportunities and try our best to provide legitimate feedback in a timely manner.
