LOCATION- IRVING, TX LENGTH- through August 2013 RATE: $60/HOUR *I have flexibility on the rate for top notch candidates Oracle DBA/Systems Admin. Visa Holder's will be considered, but are not preferred Department Roles and responsibilities: Provide database administration, performance tuning support for databases. The day-to-day responsibilities are to install, maintain and tune Oracle Database on AIX and Sun Solaris platforms. The DBA should be capable of working independently as well as operating in a team environment, with a willingness to follow pre-defined IT policies to satisfy our clients. This role requires the ability to understand client's needs, suggest optimal solutions and help the clients meet their deadlines. Significant continuous experience as a hands-on senior Oracle database administrator in a large scale UNIX mission-critical environment where best IT practices are followed and support large number of production databases 24X7 is a MUST. Technical Requirements * Install/Maintain/Upgrade Oracle 10G/11GR1/11GR2 software stack. * Must have strong Hands-On Oracle ASM, CRS and RAC experience. Must have implemented RAC from scratch on large scale mission-critical environments. * Perform VTM vulnerability and PSU patch upgrades. * Configure, implement and maintain multiple Oracle Instances with multi-node RAC in UNIX, especially AIX. * Must have hands-on experience with No-Data-Loss replication using Oracle Dataguard. Experience with SRDF a plus. * Must be able to research and resolve Oracle software and database problems/issues. * Must have Hands-On thorough knowledge of Oracle RMAN. Must be able to establish and maintain backup and recovery procedures using Oracle RMAN. Experience with EMC Clones a plus. * Install, configure and maintain database monitoring procedures using BMC Patrol for Oracle * Monitor and tune performance of Oracle Databases with GRID control. Must be proficient with Oracle GRID infrastructure. * Proficient with Oracle Datapump. Must be able to write Oracle Datapump export and import procedures based on the requirements. * Partition large tables and provide data modeling support to development groups * Upgrade database from 10gR1 and 10gR2 to 11R1 and 11gR2. * Assist users with problem resolution and answer database usage questions. * Work with users to schedule application of patches and configuration changes. * Proactively monitor database health and resource consumption. * Participate in capacity planning and benchmarking of application workloads. * Work with Oracle to resolve database outages and oracle problems. * Keep current with latest Oracle technology, and evaluate technologies as needed. * Develop key automation tools for streamlining workflow and database management Knowledge/Experience: * Must have strong Oracle 10/11G, RAC & Data guard expertise. * Must have at least 5 years Oracle 10G/11G Hands-On experience in large organization. * Must have at least 5 years in RAC/CRS/ASM Hands-On experience in large organization. * Must have strong UNIX/AIX background skills * Must be able to write and modify Unix Shell Scripts. PERL scripting is a plus * Strong PL-SQL experience is required and is a plus * Experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication is a plus * Proficient Knowledge of Cost-based Optimizer and SQL Tuning * Proficient Knowledge of Database Modeling and Oracle Partitioning * Experience with IT best practices, writing/documentation skills. * Significant experience troubleshooting complicated database problems is a must * Experience researching and recommending technology solutions * Should be willing to learn and support other database technologies like UDB * Knowledge of UDB (Versions 9.1, 9.5 and 9.5) is a plus. * Experience with Java a plus. Competencies * MUST be a good team player and work well with others * Must have very good written and oral communications skills * 24X7 on-call rotation for support of production databases.
