AFAICS that would have nothing to do with spray itself: you get some ByteStrings and you want to remove some parts of them. What you need is an implementation of RFC 2388 <https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2388.txt>, and akka-http includes one out of the box while spray does not.
