You can see which version of Scala an Akka artifact is released for by looking at the artifact names: http://search.maven.org/#search%7Cga%7C1%7Ca%3A%22akka-remote_2.11%22
So as you see, it's released for 2.11. That you're talking about jar files makes me thing you're mixing different akka versions...
