Hi Aqeel,
Alchemi doesn't make any distinction about the subnets of the
Executors/Managers. It does, however, store the hostnames of the Executors
in the Manager database, so perhaps this could be a DNS-related issue.
Actually, hostnames is a little misleading. When first connecting to the
Manager, each Executor looks at its Environment.MachineName (which doesn't
include its full DNS suffix -- i.e. "mylaptop01" and not "
mylaptop01.mydomain.com"). (I think this was considered a bug and was fixed
in SVN, but I'm not 100% sure).
So, your Manager must be able to connect to Client2 using only the name
"Client2".
If that isn't possible due to DNS configuration, there is a workaround.
(I've had to use this myself, unfortunately)
Just add lines like
Client2 192.168.x.x
to your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file on your Manager. This
hard-codes the IP address of all the other computers and doesn't try to do a
DNS lookup on them.
Also, dig around in your log files and see if you can find a more concrete
error message.
And, if all else fails, double-check that ports 9000 and 9001 are open
between all machines.
Hope that helps,
-Matt

Don't miss this year's exciting event. There's still time to save $100.
Use priority code J8TL2D2.
