Here's an interesting fault: The spider with Spica
cuts out intermittently under hard acceleration. When
this happens, the alternator warning light blinks.
Where do I look for the short?
This is one of those things that's hard to test. But based on the alternator
light coming on when it happens, I'd start with checking both the ground
connection from the engine to the body and the positive connection, where
the main positive wire connects to the alternator. The other possibility
might be a broken positive wire. Under hard acceleration, the top of the
engine rotates toward the passenger side of the car. That could cause a
loose connection to break, only to have it reconnect when the engine loses
power and rotates back the other way.

p.s. My Dad used to keep a boat at Smith's Marina, in Somer's Point. We
spent many dinners after fishing at the Point Diner. Are you old enough to
remember Tony Mart and Bay Shores?
