Hi Digesters, The clear coating on some wheels is very thin. Any damage to them must be treated very carefully. In my view, it is probable that a paint cleaner will need to be used. I would start with the mildest cleaner you can buy. Perhaps Meguiars professional grade cleaner mild grade with clean and very soft micro fibre cloths. I would remove a wheel from the car and test the cleaner on a part of the wheel that is not visible when the wheel is on the car. I would not use a highly abrasive cleaner as that may cut though the clear coat. I also would not use an alkaline wheel cleaner or an acid wheel cleaner. It may be a wax and grease remover as used in paint shops will remove the cloudy film. I would try that first. Make sure you have removed any surface dirt from the wheel first and that you use very gentle pressure. It really is a test and see approach. Take your time and good luck.
