I got around the problem on both machines by issuing the chroot command and
running make and make install manually.

autoconf-2.60 will not build with MAKEFLAGS optimization set..
make -j3 fails..
NOTE autoconf 2.59 had no problems with parallel builds.
IF you are using OPTIMIZE add autoconf to the BLACK_LIST parameter
(located in ./optimize/opt_config )
