If you are going to add the breakpoint feature be aware the following
code _does not_ work
ifeq ($(BREAKPOINT),$@)
abort/die/quit or whatever you desire
endif
It would be nice if it did but the $@ does not work the way I think it
should. If you replace $@ with the actual target label (example
028-binutils-pass1 ) the test will succeed.

call code ; \
fi;
