ERROR: Error 2 at common/common-functions line 39!

Tha line is: cd $JHALFSDIR && make

A couple of things jump out. Do you have enough disk space? Does the expanded tarball for gcc exist?

You can just delete any existing gcc directory and go back to the jhalfs directory and try running 'make' again.
