In 2013 Mark Shuttleworth marked the bug as resolved in Ubuntu since Android and ios have created diversity in the market which defeats the issue despite Ubuntu itself not having a direct hand in the shift. Also, mentioned in the post was the fact that the desktop os should focus on creating a better experience for the developer and end user.
