should not the statement you mentioned above as
nodeptr h = (nodeptr*)malloc(sizeof(nodeptr*));

be
nodeptr h =(struct*)malloc(sizeof(struct)); ??

cos malloc returns pointer to memory block and nodeptr itself is a pointer
and you have used nodeptr* further?
