Hey.

I don't use that programme.
I used to, back in my XP days.
It might have made a small difference occasionally, but what with the
registry becoming more and more complex and personal changes already being
revoked occasionally by windows updates, plus almost all tech
columnists/books advising against using such programmes to "clean" the
registry, I just haven't gotten it back.

I think I fixed the winamp problem. Unfortunately I did not take proper
steps to isolate the problem, so I still don't know exactly what caused it.
Essentially I unchecked a box about "restoring queue" at startup, and also
uninstalled a couple of plugins that I didn't think were needed. Now it
loads as fast as it did before. Hmm.

well

Hey folks.

I'm running Windows 10 1803.

I don't know precisely that these two issues are related, but a while ago I
downloaded VLC 64-bit, version 3.0. I was pretty impressed right away with
how fast it loaded. Well, a few weeks later, I wasn't so impressed as the
program was taking something over 30 seconds to load every time and come up
with the main screen. This happened whether I ran the programme from the
search box, run box, or clicked on a video using file explorer. But it
eventually did come up, so it wasn't a big deal. Now recently, VLC issued an
update, which I installed. The load time went back to normal (iE, less than
five seconds or so) and everything was fine.

But now, Winamp is taking forever to load! Longer than VLC did when it had
its little hitch, whatever it was. I estimate that sometimes, between
calling the programme (again, using any of the principal methods), and
getting audio and/or the main window, there's as much as a two minute delay.
Once the window's up, everything does seem to work normally as it should,
but I'm really curious as to what could be causing this. I have a feeling
that reinstalling the programme will fix the issue, but I still want to know
if anyone has any ideas or has noticed this happening sometimes with
programmes in Windows 10.
