This did happen to me for a little while actually -- I wish I could remember how I solved the issue besides getting rid of some plugins. Actually I was, and still am, using v5.666. I thought the 5.8 beta actually got rid of the plugins that were no longer viable. Certainlyt he portable devices plugin was something I trashed. Not sure that was the cause, though...
