Oh, well, if you want mp3, no drm or special app needed, then I haven't
a clue. The folks who sell these things don't want anybody being able to
strip the drm and freely distribute stuff that is licensed and thus not
free.

Audible credits are really a good way to go, because each credit if
you get 24 per year is less than $10. I don’t know of any other sites
that do that. There might be pirate sites but that’s illegal. Surely
you actually want the people who wrote the book and read the book to
be paid, right?
