In fact, after seeing your response times, I made a new approach with my 13.5MB .ppt: OO already opened beforehand, it 'hangs' for about 17 Minutes, sucking all CPU-power, then it continues and after about 19 minutes the slides were visible (on ThinkPad A30, 1 GHz P-III)...as stated by Pablo, this response time is not really satisfying.
