In OOo 1.9.74 the form wizard does not offer any fields for selection from a
mysql database, even though OOo is connected to the database and the columns
and
data can be viewed in the table view.

I have now discovered that this only happens when I try to connect using ODBC.
When I try to connect using JDBC I merely get a message saying "The JDBC driver
could not be loaded" or "The specified driver could not be loaded!", depending
on what precisely I have done.

I have also just discovered that the same problem (the fields not being
available) also happens in OOo 1.1.3. I have also discovered that, while the
fields are not offered for a table I made in another mysql tool, they are
offered for another table I made by accident within the same database but from
within OOo. This applies to both versions of OOo. If I then switch back to
the
table I made outside OOo, I am still offered the fields from that second table
I
created within OOo rather than the correct ones.

I have been doing my damndest to make sure that java is set up right with the
jdbc archive from mysql and very careful attention to symlinks, but it could
stil be taht my java is still messed up. If so then there is still the fault
that the error messages are not specific about exactly which component is
missing/misconfigured.
