------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 21 21:39:00 -0700 2005 ------- Can OpenOffice.org include (in a future version, perhaps as part of the 3.0 roadmap or something) a FrameMaker-type desktop publishing application? Kword attempts to do the same thing. Basically the way Adobe FrameMaker and Koffice Kword work is they lay out frames and frame groups on a document page and place text and objects in them. This allows for complex layouts, such as those seen on the front of newspapers, to be created and filled in with content. Combining the behavior of OOImpress with OOWriter would pretty much outline this, although it'd need a lot of polish to match with Kword or FrameMaker. Noting that OOWriter gives a page of text; while OOImpress gives a slide that does absolutly nothing until a text, picture, or chart object is placed on it; we can logically say that OOWriter could give a page that wants text, picture, or chart objects lain out on it before actual content can be added. It's basically that simple: a word processor that acts kind of like presentation software without transitions. This could be built into a new component, like "OOFramer" or something, who cares what it's called. The idea is different and still interesting, but pretty much only used in FrameMaker and KWord. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
