Changing the color percentage of the upper color in the gradient leads to
increased black

TRY: 
set! rectangle - area - gradient - upper color grey 10% / lower color white 
>  reduce the quantity of upper color from 100% to 50% -> color gradient becomes
blacker than before

> reduction of lower color percentage is OK !
