1. oo version 1.9.125
2. Steps: 
{remark: text with special character enclosed with ()}
2a. key in a value, e.g. 123, into a cell
2b. format the cell with: (\"General\"\,)
2c. the cell appears as: ("123",)
2d. save the worksheet as odt
2e. quit oo
2f. open the saved worksheet
2g. the cell appears as: (123)

seems to me that
1. oo does not store (\), i.e. not excapt character
2. oo translates (\") into ("""), which actually means an empty string and start
of quote again.
