For some reason, word attachments get downloaded onto my hard drive with no extension. If I try to open the document from within 2.0beta with no extension then I get the error message "Read error - error reading file" - I will send a screenshot of this. If I rename the document with a .doc extension, then 2.0beta opens it fine. From your description, the Linux version needs an extension whereas the Windows version does not. 1.1.3 will open the file with or without an extension. It might be worth trying to add this functionality to the Linux version. I am about to try to upgrade to 2.0rc and will let you know how that does.
