I've tried pasting several times and I always failed if I didn't use Writer as intermediary step. However, I've changed platforms to Mac and tried it there and it worked so I restarted Impress on my Linux box and I can't reproduce the problem at the moment. Everything works fine now. I had been working with Impress about 2h straight when I noticed the problem, maybe it only occurs after some time. If I can reproduce it, I'll open another issue and refer to this one.
