"Text" is the default cell format for a new table in Writer.
The problem may be caused by manually entering a reference to the contents of
cell A1 in the format =A1
This works in Calc, but in Writer it doesn't work. If you reference by first
pressing key F2, then clicking into A1, you see the correct formula with the
format =<A1>
A range is referenced like =<A1:A3> and the resulting cell will contain the sum
of cells A1 to A3. Don't know why it is the sum and not the maximum or the mean
value.
Will add this info to the help somewhere and add an index entry "references;in
Writer tables"
