Writer uses a Single Document Interface, and, as I understand it, when I open a
second document, a new instance of the program is started. That's fine, but...

When I do open a second document, the "document close button" (the little "x"
just below the "application close button" disappears! Somehow, I am supposed to
intuit that if I click the "application close button", I will not really close
OpenOffice, but rather I will be returned to the first document I opened. This
seems to me to be a lot to ask of new users. Why not leave the "document close
button" in place in the second instance of the program, but just make it close
that instance and return the user to the first document opened. That way nobody
would be confused (as I was) by the disappearance of the "document close button"
and the app would still work just as it does now. It seems to me that this
would be a very easy fix.

Thanks,

JAS

P.S. It is hard to believe that after all this time you are still shipping the
program with default tabs set a 0.49 inches. Who in the world ever uses 0.49
inch tabs. Every new user who opens Writer sees the tabs at these odd position
and has to work out how to fix them on his or her own. You don't want to put
off new users needlessly. Fix this!
