I did find that you could pass the '-norestore' flag to the application in order to get it not to do a restore, and therfore bypass this issue. For example: C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 1.9.74\program>swriter -norestore But we can't expect an average user to do that on a regular. Its not even easy for QA and developers, because you can't edit the Shortcut to pass the '-norestore' flag each time.
