An em dash between two words should always stick to the end of the first word,
as if it were the last letter of that word, so that if it happens to occur at
the end of a line of word-wrapped text, it doesn't break off independently and
display as the first character on a new line. (That's presuming, of course,
that there are no spaces between the words and the em dash) My editor has
asked me to correct this problem in the manuscripts I submit.
