In Writer, I set my footer such that it shows "Page 1 of 10" where 1 is the current page and 10 is the page count. I saved it and exit and then try to open this file (in OpenDocument format) again. The footer shows "Page 1 of 1" on the first page and "Page 2 of 2" on the second page and so on till the tenth page.
