I am not using type1 fonts, but ttf fonts. The problem is, as stated in issue
50633, that the "soft hyphen" is a different character than the standard dash.
In the font I'm using, the soft hyphen character seems to be missing (but the
dash is there!)...

I've heard that many people have those problems with fonts not supporting the
soft hyphen correctly... Maybe a workaround could be to make the character for
softhyphens configurable...
