You misunderstand the issue. What font I use is not the issue. Nor is it an
issue of typing in mathematical formulae.
Here is an example of the type of work I am doing:
T' = {(i, j, k) | i ≠ j ≠ k ; i, j, k Є N}, L(T') = {1, 2, 3}.
This really isn't a mathematical formula, as such, it is really a mathematical
expression which descibes a set.
In order to pick out characters such as ≠, I go to Insert, Special Character on
the menu bar, then select Mathematical Operators from the drop down list. Some
of the symbols that ought to be included there are not.
A good example is the character which stands for "is an element of" -- it is not
in the list, but I noticed that the cyrillic character Є looks somewhat similar
to the character I need.
But the symbol for "is an element of" ought to be included in the list of
Mathematical Operators.
Although the list of Mathematical Operators includes ∩, the character for
"intersection," it does not include the character for "union," which is an
upside down version of that same symbol.
While these characters may be included in some fonts, they ought to be included
in the Mathematical Operators list of the Special Characters menu.
