This is on a Windows XP machine which previously had the Russian OOo 1.1.5
installed. With this version installed, double-clicking any OOo file in the
Windows Explorer would correctly open the file in the right OOo app. We
uninstalled Russian OOo 1.1.5, then installed English OOo 2.0. Subsequently,
file associations *seem* to be correct -- for instance, both .sxw and .odt
documents are labeled as "OpenOffice.org" text documents in the Description
column of Windows Explorer, and checking File Assocations shows that they should
be opened with OOo Writer, but double-clicking produces NO effect. There is no
feedback, no indication of any kind that anything will happen. Files *can* be
opened from inside OOo. Also tried changing File Association to another app
(Notepad), then back to OOo -- no good.
