I was able to replicate the bug with Open Office 1.1 on a Linux OS and with Open
Office 1.4 on a Windows XP OS.

It appears that when inserting file A into file B, file B would loose bold
character after the point of insertion only if the terminating character in file
A is bold. Furthermore file B would only loose bold character on the line where
insertion was done. It would retain its bold character everywhere else.

Here are a few follow up tests and their results:

1 â Inserting an all-bold file A into file B which is bold before and after
the
point of insertion: B looses bold character after point of insertion.

2 â Inserting an all-bold file A into file B which is bold only before the
point
of insertion: No change occurs.

3 â Inserting an all-bold file A into file B which is bold only after the
point
of insertion: B looses bold character after point of insertion.

4 â Inserting a partially-bold file A into file B which is bold before and
after
and after the point of insertion: B looses bold character after point of
insertion.

5 â Inserting a partially-bold file A into file B which is bold only before
the
point of insertion: No change occurs.

6 â Inserting a partially-bold file A into file B which is bold only before
the
point of insertion: B looses bold character after point of insertion.

I also performed some follow-up testing to find that the bug is limited to just
bold character or if it spills over to other font characteristics.
