A discusion about this issue has been started on dropline gnome forums. See:

and see what trovao said about the same problem in a NFS filesystem.

Looks like java is guilty here.

He proposes remount with nolock for the case of NFS but i can't find that
feature in shfs. Anyway, it is a bug.

If it is because ooo wanna lock the opened files, just don't lock them plis!
