User alphonsu changed the following: What |Old value |New value ================================================================================ Status|CLOSED |UNCONFIRMED -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution|DUPLICATE | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 9 09:38:31 -0800 2005 ------- A. I defy people other than either being a genius or having at least a PhD in "Finding Duplicate Bug Reports" to find any similarity, or what is FAR MORE IMPORTANT any clues about resolving this issue from 21299. I'll try to explain why IMHO you seem to have missed the main point of my original report. For some reason, on installation the OO writer comes with Format/AutoFormat/ WhileTyping set (at least this is how I got it). To any _regular_ user's shock and dismay, on typing three of these characters and hitting enter she ends up with a solid line which cannot practically be removed unless the victim holds a PhD in "Deleting Paragraph Borders in OO writer". Please believe me, even after reading your indications you truly need a certain skill and expertise to do it each time such a line jumps at you. Note: I used the term "regular" user above because I'm still scratching my head about who would normally want a paragraph separated by a solid line across the page (I've seen users and I've seen documents). I suppose there are such folks in the world after all but that should be an exception and well documented. B. For people browsing through this Bug report to help them get a little insight: << Where is this documented? In OnlineHelp of course! from the help (apply border) >> What you probably wanted to say was 1. In Help, search for "borders;automatic drawing on/off" That will take you to a help page titled "Turning Off AutoFormat and AutoCorrect" The last paragraph of this page, titled "To stop drawing a line when you type three identical characters:" reads, OpenOffice.org automatically draws a line when you type three of the following characters and press Enter: - _ = * ~ # 1.Choose Tools - AutoCorrect. 2.Click the Options tab. Clear the Apply border check box. 2. If you select the "Apply border" line above and click Help (i.e. look for the context help), this will take you to a help page titled "Options" where if you scroll down you will find a paragraph named "Apply Border" which finally contains the actual text mentioned in your reply. C. Now if you take a second or two to go over the (B) above with any amount of realism, imagine what your regular user (99% of OO world population) has to go through to get a handle (and retain it) on this situation. Anyway, thank you for the help and effort and I hope this "bug" (which you imply by being a duplicate is not really a bug - controversial at best) can now be closed for good if you so desire. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
